6/9/12: felt great for the first few miles, started running in a sunny stretch and felt a little dehydrated and slowed down. Ran across a couple hills which make me a little more tired, the last half mile was almost painful. Won't try running in the heat like that again.

6/11/12: felt good for most of the run. It was very sunny it kind of went downhill, literally, from there. I felt fine by the end. IT was a short run and I want to try a longer one sometime this week or this weekend.

6/12/12: A shorter run then I normally do. I felt really good the first 1.4 miles but on the way back I knew I was getting dehydrated and a little light-headed. I need to drink more water throughout the day. I might try a longer run tomorrow just for time reasons. A goal of mine is to cut this route down to 18 minutes by the end of the summer without pushing it too hard. I went at about 80% of race pace the way there and 100% the way back so I pushed it maybe a bit too hard today.

6/14/12: The longest run I've done this week. I didn't run yesterday but had fresh legs today. I didn't warm up or stretch so my feet kind of hurt, but they will heal. It was a pretty hot day for a long run but I enjoyed it and it was an easy run. A lot of great hills. I drank a sufficient amount of water so I wasn't dehydrated. Cant wait to do another one of these!

6/15/12: The run itself was very easy, I did run at 95% or maybe a little less today for a workout. It felt really good. I could have gone a little faster if I had some fresher legs. My original goal was to get 18:00 for this same route by the end of the summer but I may decrease if I beat this record. I plan on doing this route again early or mid next week looking to go sub 18:00 minutes.

6/17/12: This was an easy run. I did not have the proper nutrition today. I did not drink enough water and had too much junk food before my run. I also ate a meal only an hour and a half before my run so it did not feel right. Other than that it was an easy run and I plan to run a farther distance tomorrow. I also want to cut this loop down to 28 minutes eventually.

6/18/12: Went for a normal run, my legs were tired from the beginning, so I knew it would be a tough run. After some large hills I was really tired and stopped for a minute. NEED to work on hills soon as a speed workout. Also would like to try an LSD. Supposed to be hot these next couple days, a perfect time to try something new out.

6/20/12: Did a short run today, the 2.8 mile loop. It was 84 degrees so I took it very slow, and my knees hurt before I ran but not while I ran. It is suppose to be the same weather tomorrow and the next couple days. Hopefully I can fit in a good workout or LSD on one of them.

6/22/12: Knees hurt in beginning, did stretches but only helped some. Knees only hurt on hills afterward, thinking of giving them a break. Just as hot as the passed days, but got a good run in. Easy run, just hot, 2/5. One more day before my trip, I will try running after work.

7/2/12: I havent run in over a week so I wasn't exactly prepared to run. My nutrition wasn't all that great but what really killed me was that my knees were locked for the duration of the 1.6 mile run. Dang they hurt. Did stretches for them hoping for a much better day tomorrow. Also, skipped first official day of XC summer training.

7/05/12: Best running day I've had all year. I started nice and easy (kind of fast really) and felt great. At mile 3 and 4 a slowed down dramatically to a 8 minute mile pace and then finished the last 1.3 miles at about a 6:45 mile pace. Felt awesome. I stretched early this morning doing my abs and arms workout. At 2:30 I did my leg workout and some stretching. Nutrition: 3 waters, healthy breakfast and lunch. Not a lot of snacking. I want to do more of these longer runs if possible.

7/08/12: Did a very short run to start the day. I was hoping to do a 5k (3.1 mile really). I stretched really well in the early morning, I mean really well, and I tried to eat healthy. I used my flats too. Backfire. I started my first mile at a sub 6 minute pace, but then cramped up on a hill in my abs and on my shoulder, I kept going for another .6 miles but I had to give it up. It was no use. I want to try this again later today. I will pretend this was a warm-up run.

7/09/12: Did a run with my older brother today. He hasn't run in months. Had to run slow for him but I used it as a slow distance run. Even though it wasn't really a distance. Cramped a little, had lunch less than an hour and half before that.

7/10/12: Did the 4m loop, felt fine. Cramped up on last mile, but ran through it and did sub-6:30 mile pace for last mile and finished under 30minutes. I want to continue going under 30 for this loop but want to do longer runs starting tomorrow morning.

7/11/12: Ran early in the morning. Legs were tired from run the night before. Longest run all week, felt great! Decided to do the 1.3 mile extender at end, and it was worth it. A hot one though. Definitely had enough water but mouth was dry. I want to make long runs a habit.

7/12/12: Ran late this evening and felt pretty good. I probably wasn't hydrated just enough so I was a bit tired. I did the 4 mile loop and tried going too fast. I did it in under 30 which is a goal of mine but I started going to fast on mile 2.5 and I cramped up. On the last mile I ran at a fine pace and ended up going under 30 anyway. Felt good.

7/15/12: Wanted to get a run in today no matter what, just did a very short one before it started down-pouring and thunder-storming. Did kinda face paced which felt good but cramped near the end but didn't slow me down.

7/16/12: Wanted to go for a short run to start the day and it was a very easy run. I tried to go at about a 6:30 pace which I almost did but didn't cramp up at all! I ate a pop tart and OJ at 9am and ran less that 1.5 hours later with no cramp. I might eat that again sometime. I want to do a longer run tonight.

7/19/12: Did a pretty short run today, it was a speed workout. I did the first quarter regular pace, around 7:30mile pace, then did the next quarter at slow 8:15 pace, and then did the third quarter at 7:30 again, and did the last quarter at around 6:15 pace. It felt really good I had a couple of cramps at the end from running fast on the last quarter but it was worth it and I ran straight through them and gave it my all. I really like speed workouts.

7/20/12: Did an awesome LSD today. Ran very slow and really got a good workout. It didn't take a lot of energy out of me. One problem was that I had a cramp in the second mile which I stretched and it went away but I sort of ran through it. Probably didn't have the best nutrition and probably didn't stretch enough. It was a 6 mile run which makes my longest run this summer. Which is awesome. I want to do more of these and make them kind of normal to increase my endurance.

7/21/12: Did a short fast paced run 2.8 miles today and had a PR, very excited. Didn't think Id get a run in today but did amazing and felt great. Small cramp at the end but ran through it as usual. Did the second half faster than the first, surprise. EDIT: original goal was 18:00 which sounds very reasonable, want to try this next week. Yes.

7/25/12: Went for a hike today, ran some of it but kept a good walking pace for most of it. It irritated my knees a little but I really wanted the exercise to keep in shape while hiking. Felt great!

7/26/12: Ran the 2.8 loop with no goal in mind, once I got half way I realized I was at PR pace, so ran back fast. Almost gave up at the end and went in at 18:09, new PR by 11 seconds, but haven't beaten goal. I want to do that this week.

7/30/12: Did a different loop today with my brother chasing me on his bike, I cramped up early from running too fast. OH well, learn from my mistakes. It was a short run but took longer than I expected for some reason. A very hot day though! I dont like the route and probably wont do it again.

7/31/12: Got a letter in the mail about XC practice starting on the 13th, so I am running everyday from today until then. No questions. Need to be in perfect conditions. Plan failed. Brothers talked me out of not running and played stupid game instead but got in a short run while doing so - 1.5 miles. It was something!

8/01/12: Really training hard now. Went for a bike ride that was about 6 miles which aggravated my knees some, but did fine. It was a good workout because when I did my run my legs were toast, but thats ok. I turned my run into a nice LSD and wanted to go further but my legs couldn't. Ended up with a time that is ok to me. I enjoyed this one.

8/03/12: Felt good today, started pretty slow but picked up the pace by the mile. No cramps or anything! Really exciting for me. Cant wait to feel like this during the regular season. Also finished with a pretty good time, not a PR though. I want to do the 2.8 mile loop tomorrow and PR for under 18:00 minutes
